Uth Oye

Situated in the heart of Old Lahore is a gem of a school (Mohammadiya School for Girls) that has very quietly been doing amazing work for over 3 generations – in our initial surveys we spoke to a family where the grandmother, daughter and granddaughter had all gone to the same school. Kickass.

Our “undercover” visits to this school revealed a lot of other positives – a huge playground, open courtyard spaces, dedicated teachers and a resilient administration that understood the complexities of educating women from less privileged socio-economic backgrounds. The school showed a lot of promise and had a visible history of having chartered the futures of many women who would have otherwise stayed uneducated and unskilled.

In our brainstorming sessions with them, both Uth Oye! and the school felt it was necessary to implement something that could be beneficial to the students in the long run. An area that the students lacked was hands on experience with computers and modern technology, a very requisite skill to have in today’s world.

As a result, we donated an entire computer lab to the school, complete with 10 functional desktop PCs. Howzzthat for a HELLO WORLD moment?

All their base are now belong to us.

Summary for the Lazy:

  • 1. Mohammdiya School gives quality education to poor girls.
  • 2. Girls suffer from a lack of technological skills.
  • 3. Uth Oye! donates entire computer lab to school. Don’t Jealous.
